Abstract
Temanummerets hovedartikel forklarer, hvorfor ASTRID blev bygget som en hybrid lagerring, der kan lagre både ioner og elektroner—og hvordan det åbnede et helt økosystem af eksperimenter i Aarhus. Artiklen folder de acceleratortekniske grundbegreber ud (kvadrupoler, sekstupoler, RF-struktur, emittans) og viser, hvordan synkrotronlys fra undulatorer giver dramatisk høj brillians. ELISA præsenteres som ASTRIDs elektrostatisk baserede lillesøster, med simple injektionsskemaer, lange levetider for ionbundter og en energigrænse omkring 25 keV—optimalt til lavenergi-reaktioner og laserinteraktioner. Samspillet mellem ASTRID og ELISA skaber en platform fra atom- og molekylfysik til overflade- og materialestudier. Resultatet er en læsbar introduktion til, hvordan moderne lagerringe forvandler avanceret acceleratorfysik til præcisionsværktøj for eksperimentel fysik.
