Abstract

Meget af vores viden om cellebiologi er udledt af klassiske mikroskopbaserede eksperimenter, som har taget udgangspunkt i en simpel prøve: En isoleret celle i en petriskål. Men kan vi regne med, at en isoleret celle i en petriskål opfører sig, som den ville gøre i sit naturlige miljø? – Nej, det kan vi nok ikke altid. Denne artikel belyser ét aspekt af den igangværende mikroskopudvikling – nemlig udviklingen af mikroskoper, som kan observere levende celler i intakte væv.
