About the Journal

Chronolog orginates with the idea of four students at CCRS who believed that the students at the institute should have the possibility to publish their very first scientific article in a journal which were geared for students. The institute, CCRS, teaches the history, culture and archaeology of the ancient Southwest Asia and Northeast Africa and this became the focus area for the journal. The first issue of Chronolog was published in February 2023. 

The editor group are students or recent graduates of CCRS, to make sure Chronolog is always focussed on the need of the students, while our editor-in-chief is professor emeritus at the institute. A senior advisory board consisting of a number of the associate professors and professors of CCRS is a sounding board for scientific ideas. An advisory board consisting of "retired" editors help with daily operations and other similar tasks.

In the start, the journal focused primarily on students affiliated with CCRS.  However, due to an increased interest in the journal, we've decided to open submission from students and early career researchers without a connection to the University of Copenhagen and encourage ALL students and recent graduates interested in the field to submit their articles to Chronolog!

To support those wanting to write their first article, Chronolog organise and participate in events supporting this every year. We've also hosted workshops on topics such as how to create scientific posters, how to apply for funding, and how to present at conferences.

Chronolog is open source and all authors are free to link to their articles or republish these on e.g. academia.edu from the day the issue is published. We are an annual journal and publish in late spring. Our submission is always open, but the deadline for each spring issue is in October of the year prior to publishing.
