CURIOUS THINGS is happy to announce this first issue!

The journey has been long since we launched the initiative back in 2023. What started as two archaeology students’ idea to give their fellow students a chance to publish articles quickly grew into a larger project. The original intent was to give students of all disciplines a place to write about material culture, in the broadest sense, without necessarily needing to feel strictly confined to any specific historical period, geographic region, or academic discipline. We think this first issue reflects these qualities very well, as we have been fortunate enough to be able to include two articles and two essays. These take their starting point in material culture, but explore the subject from vastly different approaches and perspectives - both in terms of their focus and their empirical choices. 

CURIOUS THINGS has now expanded to six editors and a senior advisory board – whose advice we are most grateful for. Our first helping hand was the journal Chronolog – to whom we are indebted, as they helped us get our footing in the early beginnings and have kindly shared their many experiences and expertise with managing and publishing a student journal.

We would also like to thank FASR - Forum for Archaeological Student Research in Copenhagen for their collaborative work, for encouraging students to publish in this journal and for sharing the ideal of giving students a chance to share their research.

A big thank you goes to Helene Winther for her dedication with getting the journal on its feet and underway as well as for all the hard work she has put into the project. This first issue is also dedicated to her, whose work has been invaluable.

Lastly, we would like to thank the authors, who took the time to write to us and for their patience in the long process of getting the article published. Thank you for sticking with us.
