Hvem er Knud? Om børnelitteraturens potentiale i den retoriske dannelse

I denne artikel undersøges børn som retorisk publikum og børnelitteraturens potentiale i den retoriske dannelse gennem en analyse af romanen Ud med Knud af Jesper Wung-Sung. Ifølge artiklen ses et overlap mellem analysepunkterne og værdier hentet fra Giambattista Vicos Vor Tids Studiemetode, hvorfor det antydes, at børnelitteraturen kan have potentiale i den retoriske dannelse. Analysen bygger på narrativ og retorisk teori og viser, at Ud med Knud leder den faktiske læser til en positiv opfattelse af indre og ydre dialog, og at den narrative struktur i bogen kan øve læserens fantasi.

ABSTRACT

This article explores the common ground between the field of rhetoric and the peculiar nature of children’s literature. This is based on an analysis of the book Ud med Knud (Exit Knud) by Jesper Wung-Sung. The article argues for an overlap between the results of the analysis and values about the education of children put forward by the Renaissance thinker Giambattista Vico. The analysis is grounded in theory from the fields of rhetoric and narratology. It shows how Ud med Knud leads the actual reader to value dialogue and that the structure of the narrative encourages the reader to use her imagination.
