This volume presents a translation of a pioneer treatise on the seals of Greenland, published in Danish 1790 and 1791 by Otto Fabricius (1744-1822). The translation is preceded by a biographical presentation of the man behind the work, and succeeded by an evaluation of the significance of his contribution in this field of research.
