Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text should have a 1.5 line spacing; employ italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables should be placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

Publishing in the Journal of Organizational Knowledge Communication is free of charge - no payment is required on behalf of the author.
Title and abstract
  • In articles and review articles, the title of the contribution must have the first letter of each new word in capitals (except for prepositions, articles, conjunctions and particles).
  • This is followed by an abstract in English of max. 250 words.
Headings and subheadings
  • Headings and subheadings must be numbered in the decimal system. Do not use more than three decimal points in headings.
Citations and short references
  • Citations under 3 lines must be incorporated into the main text and be placed inside double quotation marks. Citations over 3 lines must be placed on its own. The short reference should be placed in parentheses with a colon and a space before the page number. Example (Bhatia 1993: 13).
  • If two authors are cited, their names should be separated by “and”, example: Hartcourt and Krizan (1989). If more than two authors are cited, the name of the first author should be followed by et al.
  • Do not use ‘ibid’ and ‘op.cit’. Author name, year of publication and page number should be given at each repeated reference. Instead of ‘ff.’, please give inclusive page numbers: Use ‘see’ instead of ‘cf.’ when referring to relevant works.
Tables and figures
  • Tables and figures must be consecutively numbered and have captions. Captions should be placed below tables and figures.
Footnotes
  • Footnotes should be used only when absolutely necessary. If used, the footnote must be placed at the bottom of the page to which it refers
References
  • References must be listed in alphabetical order. Publications by the same author(s) must be listed chronologically with the most recent item first. If the same author is listed with two or more works from a single year, they should be differentiated by suffixing letters to the publication year, e.g. 2002a, 2002b. If possible, authors’ first names should be given in full.
