The Journal of Danish Archaeology was created in 1982 to provide an international outlet for archaeological discoveries in Denmark (See also "About the journal").

In the 1990s, the journal struggled to publish annually, and after a lacuna of nine years, the 14th and last volume of the Journal of Danish Archaeology was published in 2006. The journal was revived in 2012 under the new name of The Danish Journal of Archaeology, published by Taylor & Francis. At this point, all back issues from 1982 to 2006 were digitalised and made available at the Taylor & Francis website.

In 2019, the Danish Journal of Archaeology moved to the Open Access platform tidsskrift.dk hosted by the Royal Library. (available here: www.tidsskrift.dk/dja) At this time, all rights to both the corpus of the Journal of Danish Archaeology (1982-2006) as well as to the first eight volumes of the Danish Journal of Archaeology (2012-2018) were acquired from Taylor & Francis to be openly accessed on this platform.

The Journal of Danish Archaeology was published in 14 volumes from 1982 to 2006 - Please, browse the Archives for the individual volumes.
