Power and Care: Enactive Approaches and Critical Social Philosophy 

In May 2026, Mind & Life Europe convened the meeting Power and Care: Enactive Approaches and Critical Social Philosophy at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Spain. This conference explored diverse approaches to the politics of life and the environment, mind and body in the shaping of experiences, and relations between political agency and social philosophies. To memorialize the spirit of the Power and Care meeting, the inaugural issue of Hyphae will feature essays and articles developed from conference presentations. These will include invited contributions from selected plenary speakers including Elena Cuffari and Gabor Karsai, as well as vetted contributions from a wide range of conference participants. The launch of the journal Hyphae will thus carry forward Power and Care’s call to embrace and reimagine the positive possibilities opened by Mind & Life Europe’s cultivation of the enactive approach, as well as underscore the journal’s own mission to reinvigorate social thinking and to cultivate a shared commitment to values of autonomy, interdependence, and care.
