This article summarises the PhD dissertation Youth pedagogical practice in youth clubs - and its significance for young people’s everyday life and youth. The dissertation explores how youth pedagogical practice unfolds in youth clubs and how it influences young people’s daily conduct of life and their capacity for action within youth life. Grounded in a critical psychological and social practice theoretical tradition, the study examines young people’s participation in youth clubs in relation to the conditions shaping their everyday lives. The dissertation is based on qualitative research conducted in three Danish youth clubs. The four articles that constitute the analytical core of the dissertation provide new empirical insights into youth pedagogical practice in youth clubs. The articles demonstrate, among other things, how youth clubs can function as alternative spaces of participation that promote well-being and support young people’s ability to navigate and influence the conditions of their everyday lives.
