Resumé

Kvinders arbejde er gennem historien ofte foregået uden for det organiserede og regulerede lønarbejdsmarked. Dermed er kilderne til deres arbejdsliv ofte også faldet uden for de traditionelle arbejderhistoriske arkivers indsamlingspraksis. I dette essay beskriver Leena Enbom, hvordan arkivmateriale fra velgørenhedsorganisationer kan kaste nyt lys over kvinders arbejde i 1800-tallet og begyndelsen af 1900-tallet – og drager paralleller til nutidens gig-arbejde.
