Abstract
ABSTRACT
This article presents a critical view on the Danish institutional habits by questioning the highly significant role day-care institutions play in the childhood of Danish children. The article focuses on the connection between families and day-care institution, where the institutions are considered as having a defining role for childhood and a structuring role for the sacred, secret universe of the family. Throughout the article it is investigated how we have come to view the institutions as natural. It is shown that the critique of and interest in the day-care institutions have moved from child-centred psychological concerns to economic recommendations for society.
