Zur Petrographie von Nordhoeks Bjerg und Nörlunds Alper Hudson Land (Zentral-Ostgrönland). Mit einer geologischen Einführung von John Haller
Abstract
Hudson Land provides excellent exposures that elucidate the late Caledonian history of Central East Greenland. Due to late-orogenic faulting and thrusting, a great variety of rocks (Precambrian and Cambro-Ordovician sediments, Caledonian metamorphites, Old Red Sandstone molasse, and late-orogenic intrusive granites) came to lie side by side or were piled upon each other. PAUL STERN who died before having completed the manuscript of the present paper mainly investigated the mode of emplacement of two areas of late-orogenic granites, viz. the Nordhoeks Bjerg and the Nörlunds Alper. From both he examined a large number of thin sections in order to restore the intricate succession of mineral growth. Special attention was called to feldspars, and the origin of redstained feldspars is discussed. The latter are widely distributed in the Nordhoeks Bjerg massif.
