I denne artikel beskrives det igangværende skandinaviske musikterapiforskningsprojekt, MICO-projektet (Music Imagery in Child Oncology). I MICO-projektet undersøges, om afspænding og visualisering under aktiv musiklytning kan reducere kvalme og andre bivirkninger af kemoterapi hos børn og unge (7–24 år) med kræft og give dem redskaber til bedre at mestre ubehag i deres behandlingsforløb. Projektet sker i samarbejde med børnekræftafdelingerne i Aarhus, København, Oslo, Tromsø og Lund plus to voksenkræftafdelinger i Aarhus og København.
