Abstract

The article explores how unmanned aerial vehicles (also known as drones) influence the metaphysics of war. It is argued that the space, time, and language of war and the relationship between its actors are changing when drones enter the battlefield. With reference to Heidegger, Clausewitz, Zygmunt Bauman and various recent theorists of war, these changes are discussed and new terms are introduced to capture the characteristics of the drone warriors and their innovation of long-distance warfare.
