Instructions to authors

When preparing manuscripts for submission to Scandinavian Political Studies, authors should
refer to current copies of the Journal and follow its style as closely as possible.

Manuscripts

The original, together with two additional complete copies of the manuscript, including Figures and Tables, should be sent to the editors-elect at: Department of Government, Uppsala University, PO Box 514, SE-751 20 Uppsala, Sweden (tel: +46 18 471 3413; fax: +46 18 471 3409; e-mail: Sverker.Gustavsson@statsvet.uu.se or Barry.Holmstrom@statsvet.uu.se or Lars.Nord@statsvet.uu.se). The author should retain a complete copy of the manuscript for proof-reading.

The manuscript should be clearly typewritten on one side only of standard-sized paper,
double-spaced throughout, with 3 cm wide margins, and should be arranged as follows:

Title page. - The title of the article should appear on a separate title page, with the name(s)
and institutional affiliation(s) of the author(s), and the full postal address of the author to
whom proofs, offprints and other correspondence should be sent.

Abstract. - An abstract not exceeding 250 words, including the aim, scope, and main
conclusions of the article, should also be presented on a separate page.

Main text. - Use three or fewer grades of heading. All headings should start at the left margin and be typewritten with capital initials; they are not to be underlined (except those to be italicized). Indicate in the margin where Figures and Tables should be placed. The words 'Fig.' ('Figs.') and 'Table' (unabbreviated) are to be written with capital initials.

Figures. - Originals should be submitted camera-ready, identified on the back, and numbered
consecutively with arabic numericals. Legends must be typed on a separate sheet(s). Please do
not prepare figures in color.

Tables. - Each table should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet(s) and should have a
short descriptive heading. Tables are to be numbered consecutively with arabic numerals. Use
table function or tabs when you make tables. Do not put manual spaces between columns.

Notes. - Notes should be typed on separate sheets and numbered consecutively. They will
appear at the end of the text. They should be brief and limited to essential explanation.

References. - The list of references, typed on a separate sheet(s), should be unnumbered and in
alphabetical order and should include all authors referred to in the text and in tables or legends.
