Instructions to authors

When preparing manuscripts for submission to Scandinavian Political Studies, authors should refer
to current copies of the Journal and follow its style as closely as possible.

Manuscripts

The original, together with two additional complete copies of the manuscript, including Figures and
Tables, should be sent to the editor (address on p. 2 of this cover). The author should retain a complete
copy of the manuscript for proof-reading.

The manuscript should be clearly typewritten on one side only of standard-sized paper, doublespaced
throughout, with 3 cm wide margins, and should be arranged as follows:

Title page. - The title of the article should appear on a separate title page, with the name(s) and
institutional affiliation(s) of the author(s), and the full postal address of the author to whom proofs,
offprints and other correspondence should be sent.

Abstract. - An abstract not exceeding 250 words, including the aim, scope, and main conclusions
of the article, should also be presented on a separate page.

Main text. - Use three or fewer grades of heading. AH headings should start at the left margin and be typewritten with capital initials; they are not to be underlined (except those to be italicized). Indicate in the margin where Figures and Tables should be placed. The words 'Fig.' ('Figs.') and 'Table' (unabbreviated) are to be written with capital initials.

Figures. - Originals ahould be submitted camera-ready, identified on the back, and numbered consecutively
with arabic numericals. Legends must be typed on a separate sheet(s). Please do not do
figures in color.

Tables. - Each table should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet(s) and should have a short
descriptive heading. Tables are to be numbered consecutively with arabic numerals. Use table
function or tabs when you make tables. Do not put manual spaces between columns.

Notes. - Notes should be typed on separate sheets and numbered consecutively. They will appear
at the end of the text. They should be brief and limited to essential explanation.

References. - The list of references, typed on a separate sheet(s), should be unnumbered and in
alphabetical order and should include all authors referred to in the text and in tables or legends.

References in the text appear as follows: Rokkan (1974) or (Benedictow 1977; Valen & Rokkan
1974) or (Pesonen 1968, 15; Damgaard 1984, 8; Uusitalo 1975, 15).

Proofs

Proofs will be sent to the author once. They should be returned duly corrected with the least possible
delay. Authors will be required to pay for any alterations not due to printer's errors which they
make.

Offprints

Fifty offprints of articles will be supplied free of charge. Additional offprints may be ordered on a
form supplied with the proofs.
