The European Science Foundation (ESF)

Which was created in November 1974, comprises 45 research organisations
in 16 European countries. Its aim is to promote cooperation and
mobility in Europe in the various fields of basic scientific research.

In November 1977, the Assembly of the ESF decided to set up a Standing
Committee for the Social Sciences under the chairmanship of Professor
J-J. Salomon.

The ESF does not dispose of funds of its own for the support of actual research work, but it can help to stimulate cooperative ventures. The aim of this note is to invite research teams, whose present and planned work might benefit from cooperation with teams in other European countries, to contact their national member on the Committee and to submit to him a detailed statement describing the proposed research topic, together with the reasons for and the programme of the European cooperation to which it may lead.
