Formålet med nærværende undersøgelse var at undersøge, hvilket selvvurderet udbytte pårørende til personer med borderline-
personlighedsforstyrrelse (BPF) oplevede efter at have deltaget i et firesessioners mentaliseringsbaseret (MBT)-program for personer med BPF og deres pårørende. Fire pårørende (tre forældre og en ægtefælle) til personer i behandling for BPF indgik i undersøgelsen. Kvalitative livsverdensinterviews blev analyseret ud fra en meningskondenserende tilgang. Undersøgelsen viste, at de pårørende oplevede at få en øget forståelse for og accept af personer med BPF’s vanskeligheder og skrøbelige mentaliseringsevne, samt at de blev bedre til at håndtere potentielle konfliktsituationer i relation til personen med BPF.
