Filmiske virkemidler som implikatur – en retorisk analyse af Den hemmelige Krig

Resumé

Artiklen diskuterer sagsfremlæggelse og argumentationstruktur i Christoffer Guldbrandsens dokumentarfilm Den hemmelige Krig (2006) og forholder sig kritisk til en rapport udarbejdet af journalistikkyndige fagfolk, der undersøger, hvorvidt filmen levede op til journalistiske standarder. Artiklen forholder sig særligt kritisk til rapportens konklusioner vedrørende de filmiske virkemidler og anvender Grices (1989) teori om implikatur til at analysere samspillet mellem filmens lyd- og billedside. På den baggrund fremføres synspunktet, at det er de filmiske virkemidler i Den hemmelige Krig, og ikke filmens sagsfremstilling og argumentation, der kommer til at udgøre grundlaget for seerens stillingtagen. Artiklen foreslår endelig at vurdere virkemidlerne i forhold til filmens formål (Kinneavy, 1971). This article discusses the presentation of facts and overall argument structure in Christoffer Guldbrandsen's documentary The Secret War (2006) and questions the conclusions of a report prepared by journalistic professionals and scholars in order to investigate whether the movie lived up to professional journalistic standards. In particular, the article is critical of the report's conclusions regarding the filmic effects and applies Grice's (1989) theory of implicature to the audio/visual interplay of the film. On this basis the article advances the view that it is the filmic effects in The Secret War, and not the film's facts and arguments, which will inform the viewer's taking a stance. The article finally proposes to assess filmic effects in relation to the film's purpose (Kinneavy, 1971).
