ERIK JOHNSEN

For several years we have been working at a common Scandinavian journal ivithin the fields of management sciences as represented in the Scandinavian graduate schools of business, the university departments of business administration and the technical universities' approaches.

Nordiska Civilekonom Forbundet, the association of graduates from the schools of business in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, promoted the idea of a fournal a couple of years ago. The aim being to contribute internationally to the image of the Scandinavian civilekonom providing professionals with information of the standard of his educational background. But the aim also being to contribute to the advancement of management science research in the Scandinavian countries. This is stated as the primary objective.

In this trial issue there is only one common theme: the papers are ivritten by young and — as yet — internationally unknown researchers. Two features are significant. The one is ■-- of course — that Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden are represented. The other is, that every article represents a unique contribution to management science ranging from a formal computerprogram over mathematical model building for several objectives to applications of management science and national research policy.

In future issues we intend also to bring reviews of significant Scandinavian
books in the field.

We hope to be on the international scene from January 1973.
