How Readers Annotate Textbooks and Manuals

An empirical investigation of how students annotate computer science textbooks and programming language manuals is reported. Also, a taxonomy of such annotations is presented. These results may be used when designing systems for online representation of either computer documentation or literature in general, including textbooks.Downloads
